And… I’m Back!
After a little time away, I’m finding my roots again: a good-old, who-cares personal website.

A Trip to North Conway
October 27, 2008
Scarlette and I drove up to North Conway this weekend, and despite leaving on Saturday afternoon around 4:00pm, we had a great “weekend.” Our trip started with dinner tasting at the Stonehurst Manor where we’re getting married next May. I had the chicken with prosciutto. Scarlette had the beef wellington.
I decided that at our wedding, I’m getting what she had and she’s getting what I had.
Just before the entrées, we both ordered “chop salads.” Most other places I’ve been to call these things wedge salads, and they are far and away my favorite type of salad. There’s nothing like eating a salad the same way you would a steak.
For dessert, we had some fudge-type cake with after-dinner drinks. I had an unpronounceable scotch on the rocks and Scarlette got some sort of coffee concoction.
Next, we retreated to the Wildflowers Inn. Bob and Emily, who run the place, were very kind and accommodating. The room was very nice and had a fireplace. We watched the end of the first Scooby Doo movie, and the entire second Scooby Doo movie. I had never seen the second one, and I’m not sure that that was a bad thing.
Scarlette was asleep by then. I tried to watch Saturday Night Live but passed out.
Sunday morning we went to the Red Fox Bar and Grille for some “Jazz Breakfast Buffet.” (Everything up there has a website.) Unfortunately, breakfast is the absolute worst meals of the day. Have you ever considered to think of what most people eat for breakfast? Anyway, as far as buffets go — they didn’t even have bagels. BAGELS.
After breakfast, we took a trip up Cathedral Ledge for a really nice view of the valley. Took a bunch of pictures that I hope to put up somewhere in a bit.
Before our appointment at 2:00p, we visited the outlets and I got some fancy new shoes. That’s a huge relief since the old ones had developed a mouth in the bottom. It liked to eat water and all other things I walked on.
At 2:00p, we met with a justice of the peace. He was a cool guy that showed us something that we might include in our ceremony. It sounds cool, I’ve never seen another ceremony do it. I just hope Scarlette likes it. It sounds like we’re going with this guy (which is 100% good with me).
We stopped at the pet store to buy the cats some halloween costumes. Thermos was to be a football player, but he apparently hates to dress up in things. Bella was an angel. She wasn’t thrilled with the costume, but tolerated it.
However, a couple minutes later when I was cleaning her litter box, she squatted down right next to it, looked at me and let loose all over the floor… so I could be wrong.
And then we drove home. Got home to do more dishes since the dishwasher either sucks, no longer works or both. Took out the trash and recycling and hunkered down to do some overtime work stuff. Blech.
So… what did you do this weekend?
